4" pads/backplate vs 6.5" pads/backplate

I have a PC 7424 and have been using 6.5" pads with the appropriate backing plate. To switch to 4" pads for some specialized uses and applications, is it as simple as removing the large backplate and installing a smaller one to accommodate 4" pads?
Meaning I don't have to get an entirely new, smaller sized PC for 4" work?

Sorry for what may very well be a self-evident question/answer.

TIA, Nick

Thats correct nick. Go to the autogeek.com web site and look at the descriptions on the backing plates for "Random Orbit polishers", not rotary.
The explanations are very easy to understand and will tell you exactly what you need.
