Good order for a PC noob?

Hey guys. I have been reading as much as possible the past few weeks, with the intention of buying a PC and necessary accessories to take auto detailing to the next level. I finally believe that I am clear with all the products and am ready to order, but would like some confirmation from the experts here.

So here is the list of stuff I am planning on ordering.

From danase:
6 LC ccs 5" pad combo w/ - $39.97 (-10%)
1 yellow pad
2 orange
2 white
1 blue
4" LC hook and look flexible backing plate - $15.97 (-10%)

from properautocare/cms:
basic PC 7424 - $129.95
Menzerna get aquainted kit with: $29.95
16oz IP
16oz FP II

for LSP I will be using Zaino Z2 and Z5, and have Z6 and Z8 qd, as well as the zaino claybar.

the first car I will be doing is a jet black bmw (which i hear bad things about apparently). It has some pretty bad swirling and some small scratches I hope to repair.

I know it sucks ordering from two different places, but I like that i can order whichever 6 pads i want from danase, and pac/cms has free shipping, so no worries.

So does this all sound good? I am hoping to place the order by tonight, so I will have some time to do some more reading, and then work on the car Tuesday since FL has some serious water restrictions. Thanks a lot.

Re: Good order for a PC noob?

Hey hndumafia, welcome to Autopia!

The Danase pads are Awesome, the size is perfect for the PC and you will definitely like them.

As for the polishes, Autogeek just started carrying the new line of Menzerna polishes. I havent used them yet, (I will this weekend) but they are getting RAVE reviews around here.

I believe AG has a deal with the porter cable and new menzerna polishes. Its worth a look. The ones that are comparable to IP/FPII are SIP/PO106FF.

If you dont want to spring for that deal, the one from CMA will be just fine.

Good luck and let us know what you decide on.

Jim

Re: Good order for a PC noob?

thank you Jim. I ended up ordering everything listed, but then realized the backing plate i ordered is said to be for rotaries.

I posted another thread asking the question, but will that backing plate work for a PC as well, or do I need to order a different backing plate made specifically for DAs? And if I need a different backing plate, should the 3.5" LC backing plate be fine for the 5" pads? CMA says the 3.5" bp should be used for 4" pads. But they have no other bp listed for use with a 5" pad.

thanks again. i'm looking forward to cleaning up some abused paint!

Re: Good order for a PC noob?

Hey hndumafia, the backing plate for the rotary will not fit onto the PC. You will have to call them up and straighten that one out. Shouldnt be a big deal at all, just call them first thing in the morning before they ship out your stuff.

I LOVE my 5" backing plate with my danase 5.25" pads. If you are uncomfortable with the backing plate being so close to the edge of the pad, the ~4" backing plate will be fine to get you started and will give you some room in case you should slip up on accident.

Hope that helps

Jim

Re: Good order for a PC noob?

thanks again Jim!

d'oh.. danase is too fast and already shipped my stuff today... guess i'll have to buy a rotary in the future

just two more questions, i promise! are the danase LC pads 5" like listed, or actually 5.25"? and do you know where I could buy a 4" backing plate for a DA? I have looked at ag, cms, and danase, and none have a 4".

Re: Good order for a PC noob?

Hey hndumafia, ask away man, thats why were here!

The Danase pads are 5.25".

Let me see about a 4" plate really fast.... Im thinking the best were gonna do is like 3.75" but let me look around...

ok looks like your right....

Got one for ya!

Dual-Action Hook & Loop Flexible Backing Plate 5"

It measures 4 7/8". It says 5" just because its easier to list it like that.

its LC part number 43-125DA as seen on this chart

Lake Country Manufacturing Inc.-Products - Wool Pads

It will be perfect for those Danase Pads!

Just be careful that all! You will be fine.

Jim
