Polisher..

Was looking around the home depot website for a polisher/buffer and found this one:

Heavy Duty Polisher - 5460-6 at The Home Depot

Any opinions on it?

I know milwaukee is a great brand, but was curious if anyone had any experience with their polisher.

Re: Polisher..

IIRC it weighs a *ton*. I think Home Depot stocks Makita, their 9227 is a great machine, I've got 3 years on mine and it still runs like a charm.

Re: Polisher..

Also, I was wondering about pads, is one brand better than another?

Re: Polisher..

It's largely preference, but I personally use Lake County for foam and Edge for wool.

Man, that thing is a beast! You could get the Makita for cheaper too. Coastal tool has em for 169 and it comes with a bag too. Locally, like Tim said, I believe they stock them at HD.

Cool Re: Polisher..

Locally, you’re sure to have vendors for automotive paint and body supplies. They’ll have buffing pads.

It’s pretty much a sure thing you’ll find pads form Meguiar’s and 3M. Since you’re in a major metro area you’ll probably have suppliers for Edge, SM Arnold and Buff-and-Shine too. Lake Country is a little less common but you might have a local supplier.

It’s personal choice; I usually use Meg’s pads. You can call Lake Country (1.800.648.BUFF) and ask if there’s somebody in your area.

PC.
