Black Diamond, where did you find your good deal on the Hitachi?

I like that Makita Girl Calender!

Toolup

I was lucky enough to get one while they were in stock. Just received it last week but have not used it yet.

$174.99 with free shipiing. It's just the polisher though, no bag or other free goodies.

Re: Is this the best price for the Makita?

Yeah, I saw that, but I think I would just rather have the Makita rotary with the goodies.

Metabo PE12-175 Polisher - Polishers - Metabo - Power Tools - HeavyDutyStore.com
I am going to keep the hitachi as a spare.

Stickman81 might be interested in selling his hitachi.

I would get the metabo, my only regret is not buying it sooner.

I was looking for the Hitachi to save some money, but if this one is just as cheap, I will get the makita.

Mike at coastaltool is a really great guy to deal with. The price he gave you on a Makita will be very hard to beat anywhere from a reliable dealer.

You can get the Metabo at allprotools.com for $246.54, or at least I did on 18 May 2007. Some people seem to have gotten it cheaper, I was unable to.

Be advised that just because a company says a item is for sale at a certain price does not mean it is actually available!! If you really want to be sure, call.

Re: Is this the best price for the Makita?

So between the 2, would yall choose Metabo or Makita?

The following is My opinion only, others will probably disagree.

You are trying to make a decision between 2 top of the line tools that do basically the same thing.
If you are intending to be a professional regardless of what you pick, it has to be able to last.
Your strength comes into play, are you in good shape or not.
Some of the guys here say when doing vertical panels they see a big difference in small weight differences.
Some like the variable trigger speed on the Makita vs the fixed speeds on the Metabo (purely personnel)

You can get a Makita for about $175.00 vs a Metabo for $247.00 delivered ($72.00 difference. About what a nice dinner will run you with a date (I said nice, not great).
If you decide to sell either, the Metabo will probably sell easier and hold it's value better.
That weight/ballance difference means a lot to me, but maybe not much to you.

You only live once! To get the "BEST" for $72.00 more is a rare deal in anything that is of quality in life! Get the Metabo PE12-175 and eat at home for a few days.
If you weren't really interested in detailing you wouldn't even be reading this.

Re: Is this the best price for the Makita?

That's probably the cheapest you'll find it. I ordered from them a while back, but they were out of stock for a good 3 weeks so I canceled and ordered from amazon and had it expedited cause I needed it ended up paying a little over 200 for mine since I had to pay taxes as well.
