pc as well as rotary?

I have a rotary (2 in fact) that I have used for years with good results. Before getting on this forum, I hadn't even heard of a pc. Should I get one for the polishing portion of my details or is the rotary just as effective? Can I hear from people who use both? Thanks!!

Re: pc as well as rotary?

Ever since I went from PC to Rotary I have NEVER looked back. If you are good and efficient with the rotary then there is no need for the PC.

People use PC on interiors (carpet).

Re: pc as well as rotary?

Does the PC actually do a better job at polishing than the rotary? I am trying to justify why to spend the $$.

The PC will do polishing in a safer way. It will not burn your paint, and it's the most user friendly machine out there, aside of the Cyclo. The rotary will do a faster polishing, in most cases in half the time compared to a PC. The rotary has more power than the PC, but you have to be extremely careful with it. It does everything fast, including a serious damage to the paint.

My suggestion is to start with a PC, which is what I'm doing now, and after you feel comfortable with it, then you can jump to a rotary.

Re: pc as well as rotary?

Yep, attach a carpet brush and clean away.

I'm to the point where I only need the rotary for paint. PC and Cyclo have taken on roles as either sealant applicators or carpet cleaners.

you can buy special brush attachments that screw on like a backing plate. Comes in handy for dirtier carpets.

I already have been using a rotary on and off for over 10 years. I was just wondering if the PC did a better quality job than a rotary.
Here is a job I posted on a 10 year old car:
http://autopia.org/forum/click-brag/...light=year+sts
And that was just with a rotary.
