PC Died...opinions on other orbitals.

Well after 4 long years and who knows how many cars the PC has finally seen it's last polishing day. I really can't complain as I never once serviced it and it served me well.

I'm using my Rotary for alot of my polishing work but feel that I'll never be able to function without an orbital of some sort. I've been looking at the market and see some interesting machines and wanted some feedback. *Note* my only real criteria is a 6' hook and back plate. I don't use smaller 4' pads or other attachemtns for the PC. If anything I'd love to find an orbital with some more power than the PC.

Rigit R2611 is the peak of my curiosity: Price is right, states it has speeds from 4000-1000 orbits which could make it a really powerful orbital. Looks to be a bit bulky which could make working around mirrors and tight spots hard but I'm really interested in this machine.
R2611 - $129.00 at The Home Depot

New Griots machine: Price again comparable, 6' backing plate, 4000-7000 orbits, Lifetime warranty...seems this might be good option and again more powerful than the PC:
Griot's Garage 1-800-345-5789 - Car Care

Dewlat 443 is another good option. 4000-6800 rpm, good reviews here as having slightly more power than the PC. Price is a drawback here is it's somewhat expensive compared to the Griots unit which appears to be nearly the same in specs.

Festool Rotex 150 is another interesting option but I think the $440 price tag will keep me away.

I could always go Cyclo now BUT I have 20-30 pads that would be deemed useless if I went that route. With the need to buy pads and machine again the Cyclo would be a hefty investment as well right now.

Thoughts on the above options are appreciated.

Andy

Why don't you wait for the new UDM to come out next month (I think).

Educate me on the UDM...I'm not familiar with it.

My main problem is I need a machine in a hurry. I'd still like to hear about this UDM though

Cool Re: PC Died...opinions on other orbitals.

What’s wrong with your PC? Repair parts are pretty easy to come by.

PC.

The Griots, in my experience is weaker then the PC. It seems to bog easier.

Red face Re: PC Died...opinions on other orbitals.

I have both the 7424 PC & Griots .....the Griots has more power, but backing plates are their own, will not interchange.....I like the top handle also

Re: PC Died...opinions on other orbitals.

I'd get the PC rebuilt (mine cost ~$75 IIRC) and then keep it for a spare after the UDM comes out.
