Thats one of the major reasons i switched to edge/presta, i now hate BP's

Re: Wool pad questions?

Coupe, I dunno, I have to be honest. I'm not familiar with the foam/wool pads. Frankly, I don't like foam with the hi-speed rotary...it gets too hot.

FWIW, it's my perception that the Presta pads and polishes are a coordinated "system" with the polishes being color-coded to the pads.

I've got foam coming out my ears...both rotary and for the PC. I don't need or want more foam. I'll sink my $$$ into wool.

Baaaaaahhhh (sorry )

Re: Wool pad questions?

I dont think we are on the same page.

Presta pads are Edge pads right? Presta just puts their name on them right? There for are we talkin about the same pads?

From what it sounds like i would be set with:

(2000 system/adapter)
Blue Edge FOAM
Blue Edge WOOL
Green Edge WOOL

Since Optimum polish is pad specific i wont need much more than OP for corrective work. I mean most of us watched Anthony Orosco wetsand and totaly finish out a bumper on a porsche with nothin more than OP. With those 3 pads and OP im thinkin i would be set for most if not all paint correction i do.

That's entirely possible!

Yes, the Presta pads are made by EDGE.

From what it sounds like i would be set with:

(2000 system/adapter)
Blue Edge FOAM
Blue Edge WOOL
Green Edge WOOL

I think there are some double-sided pads (wool on one side, foam on the other) and thought you were referring to that. My Presta pads are double-sided, sheep on both sides

I have not used OP with my Presta pads. I've certainly used OP with foam pads on the rotary...it wasn't getting the job done for me.

I guess you'll use the Blue EDGE foam as your final step (on the rotary??)?? Maybe I'm not clear on this.

Re: Wool pad questions?

Yes on the rotary, i havent touched my PC since i got my rotary and have been correcting and finishing out with edge/presta blue foam.

This is the extent of what i can do with nothing more than makitta rotary, (2000 system/adapter) edge/presta blue 6", OHC and OP:

Couldnt imagine what i could accomplish with wool.

Re: Wool pad questions?

Just to help clear a few things up, Presta pads ( both wool and foam) are made by Edge. As for Presta products ( Cleaners/Polish/Wax) yes you match the color on the product bottle to the color of the pad your using .
What I find from using Edge wool and foam pads is wool tends to be one step above foam . Another words blue wool cuts a little more than blue foam almost to the point of green foam ( confused yet ? ) Keep in mind wool pads cut faster than foam pads.

So if i buy a wool polishing pad its basicly like a light cut foam? Light cut wool would be like a medium cut foam and so on and so on?

Re: Wool pad questions?

Coupe, I'll tie off my commentary by saying that this is the same question/concern I expressed last week. I asked if I could finish with the rotary and skip the PC. Both David and Ryan basically said don't toss the PC. Both suggested the need to finish with a foam pad on the PC for the ulimate shine. I thought you were participating in that conversation.
