My Metabo...broken?

So, I was just starting to use my metabo polisher, and for some odd reason that I forgot, I decided to press the red spindle lock button down while the polisher was on, at a speed setting of 1. Too bad I forgot to never touch the button when the polisher is on. Nevertheless, the polisher made an odd noise. More importantly though, the polisher does not seem to work properly anymore. Once you apply even the slightest pressure to the pad when the machine is on, the pad will completely stop but the machine seems to keep on working, as if the polisher is not "in gear." Is my metabo broken or am I missing something here? The instruction manual does not seem to help much at this point.

Sounds like it's broken to me. I'd see a service center and expect to pay. You might also be able to find the parts and fix it yourself. I wouldn't count of the warranty to take care of it though.

Re: My Metabo...broken?

Interesting, I accidently did this too. But mine is working just fine. Interesting I'm going to double check my Metabo. I'd be curious to see how you make out and sorry to hear about your loss.
