Which polish to use?

Hi guys,
I am going to be polishing my black firebird later this week, and i need a little info as to what polish to use. The surface is in good shape and not swirled, but could use a polish as i was an idiot and used the wrong wash mitt on it in a hurry last fall (last time i drove it), there are light cobweb scratches. sorry, no pics. I will be using a random orbital buffer, and since i've never done this before, i was going to try something relatively mild like meguiars #9. however i was looking a little more on their site and saw that their machine glaze #3 was a little less abrasive than #9 (from what i could see of the picture of the label). any suggestions/comments concerning these products in my situation, or perhaps a completely different one ive overlooked? Thanks!

From what i have seen the 9 really wont even make a difference when used with a Random Orbital, but if your paint is in good condition then the 9 just might do it.

if not step up to something with a little more cut.

you may want to get a quart of megs#80. it's a staple cleaner/polish, and also one of two cleaner/polishes (the other is #83) that are recommended with use of the dual action polisher...

sounds good, can a newbie like me use #80 (gently, of course) and not worry about swirling the finish?

IMO opinion, #80 used with a random orbital and polishing pad should be very user friendly and safe. Just use common sense and you should be fine.

The #80 might even be too mild. The #9 I'd *bet* is too mild (does do some good concealing though) and the #3 is functionally nonabrasive (at least on all the paints I've used it on, including black ss lacquer).

Want a good, easy to use polish that can get rid of light swirls? ClearKote Vanilla Moose Hand Glaze. This stuff is awesome!!!

If you don't mind spending a few bucks, a lot of people have been really impressed with Menzerna PO106FF. It appears to be exactly what you are looking for.
Do a search on the product Id on this web site and read the posts.

A lot of people seem to be really impressed by the Presta line of products also. There is a "Very Large" posting on this product (in the 1000's). Again do a search and read the replies.
