Miata Paint Hard or Soft?

So I'm probably going to be doing a friends Miata and trying to buff out some scratches and cobwebbing.

Just wondering if there is anything particular I should know before I do the polishing.

I know Corvette's have a notoriously hard paint so I was wondering if I needed to know anything about the Miata paint.

It's the metallic orange.

Thanks for any tips

I have a 7424 and was thinking of starting with a light cutting pad and probably the Optimum Polish and if that didn't do it step up to the Optimum Compound.

Thanks!
