Hitachi, do they answer?

I am really interested in anyone owning a Hitachi Polisher that has had a problem with sending it back to get fixed by warantee or whatever. Please explain your problem and if you had good service from the company and what company?

I think there are 3-4 local places here in Atlanta that will repair them. Check the website. Mine had a problem with the trigger or the dial. It would not right smooth at low RPM. I called all the places, most said 2-3 weeks for us to repair it. Once place said you will have it back in 1 week. I shipped it to them and they paid return shipping. For the $8 I paid UPS ground 1 way, it was worth not driving there.

Thanks for the reply gmblack3a. This is something I usually do before I buy something. It's always nice to know the background of a company on repairs and what loops you have to jump through to get something done.
You seem to have had a good experience with your Hitachi, thanks for informing me.

so even if I have a great repair at my local shop
it dose have anything to do with your local shop!

Sneek, LOL, thats right, I just got a cyclo and now I'm getting some Presta Light and 1500 cream, I'm getting a Rotary (Hitachi) with an Edge pad system (thanks Aaron), and before summer is over I'm getting a Garage with black and white tiles and maybe even a car/truck lift (haven't checked them out yet), and a really big surprise, LOL.

Hitachi makes good stuff. Pretty good line of miter saws for the the *fine trim carpenter*.
I would expect some decent repair shops but it may be a regional thing....

Kinda like sidewinders vs. wormdrives.

chefwong, I've never had a Hitachi tool before, all mine are Makita, old Black and Decker (they used to be great), Skill (not particularly good), some Sears (not bad), but the ones I like best are the brand sold as a store brand by Home Depot. When they first started selling them I purchased a few things because they came with a "Lifetime Guarantee", sorry now I didn't realize just how great a deal it was!

I'm not a brand junkie - I buy tools based on their usage. Corded Drills-Milwaukee, Cordless - Panasonic & Makita, Sawzall - PC Tiger Saw, etc, etc.

The Ridgid (HD) is not too shabby ;-)

Sorry, not a chef by trade. By hobby, yes.

Unfortunately, my Hitachi is due to go back into service for the second time in one year. The problem is the rpm shoot up when polishing at certain speeds for a long time. For example, when working on a hood at speed 2 (1100 rpm). The Hitachi website lists the authorized dealers in your area. I honestly haven't been happy with this product (it is only one year old), but I do use it at least once a week. I have been thinking about getting the DeWalt. Hope this helps.

Chefwong, "By hobby", that is one of my new hobbies also, my mother used to say " You have to eat so you might as well eat great", I sure wish I had listened and watched more when she was trying to teach us. I have a few of her authentic recipes that are absolutely awesome, I found them in an old bunch of pictures of all places, go figure!

Rigid (Home depot), I have there little high speed orbital sander, I absolutely love it, especially since it is guaranteed for "LIFE", WOW!

If i get stuck, I'll drop you a line, maybe you will be able to help or vice versa

MadRCN, I am really sorry to hear of your problems with the Hitachi. Luckily, there is that 5 year guarantee ! You are the first person that I am aware of that has had a problem with there Hitachi. However now I am aware of the possibility of a particular error, thanks a lot.
