My $21.50 PC 7336 from Lowes yet + Will 8" pads work with it?

First time post, long time lurker. Tonight, I purchased a PC 7336 from Lowes, the display model, for $21.50. =D They had it marked down to 40-something, the rest was discounted because it was the display.

Some employees decided to tell me the display model wasn't for sale, after some arguing and calling a manager they finally agreed to sell it.

Anyway, my tech question is this- I previously had purchased some Meguiar's 8" velcro backed pads for use with a Harbor Freight rotary buffer. When I purchase the correct backing pad, will these pads work with the smaller backing pad?

No, the sheer diameter of the pad really won't polish or apply wax properly. I've tried it with a 5.5 backing plate and it was a joke to use it on paint. Get some 6.5 Pads.

Man I have been on the search for these things at Lowes. Their site has the information on them but none of the Lowes around me have these units availiable in store. Nothing that even looks like a polisher. In fact I dont even see Porter Cable in the area of the grinders and such.
Congrats on the steal!

And a third to me... i've been calling Lowes in different states, and having them check near by stores for a 7336 but to no avail

I think the inventory is getting really thin now. There are post on several forums about the deal. There were about 10 left in the Brooklyn store and someone bought all of them about a couple of hours after I picked up mine last month. Display models are probably all you will find and they'll be all gone soon too

I wish it was a midwest thing I'm still vying to get one, any one, for a decent price. If I can't get a Porter Cable, what's a good comparable brand with the same featureset?

is there a rule that how much discount they give to u for a display model?
my friend got mine for me but he only got 10% off......and since he did a favor for me so I can't really complain.

However, if I found out there's a rule for that can I'd want to price match it...maybe someone can give me a head up? thx
