Misc. and meaningless rotary video

I shot this video quickly and with no real set up or purpose other than practice working the camera and settings.

Here is a portion of it. I am buffing on a practice hood that we use for all types of things from wetsanding to ding removal.

I'll post up the end part of this video in just a few. Again this is nothing ground breaking, just a small clip of a polishing video. I am trying to work bugs out so I can post up something with more content and something that actually is informative. So any suggestions would be fine.

Anthony

Re: Misc. and meaningless rotary video

I just learned some things from that little clip

It would be fantastic if you could put together a *how to* video on the proper use of a rotary, or polishing in general.

You sure do like buffing one handed in all your videos.

Thanks, that is my ultimate goal but right now I am a total noob filming and editing so as soon as I feel a bit more confident....and find someone to film it perhaps, I'll do a indepth video, perhaps a series.

Anthony if you don't mind my asking, how long have you been using a rotary and how many vehicles do you think you have polished.

Re: Misc. and meaningless rotary video

i haven't seen many rotary vids (and only used my hitachi a few times so far)...i'm surprised to see how fast you're moving it over the paint. i thought it should be moved much slower to avoid holograms and such...but it must be ok since your results are always excellent!

it's safe to say that you can buff that fast but just make sure to break the polish down and finish at a slower speed?

Been going on 18 years with a rotary and seriously I can't even guess at the number of cars I have detailed over those years.

Well remember that I did this only as a test of sorts. If this had been a real panel on a real car I would have slowed it down a bit.

I will soon do a more indepth video and focus more on technique....not goofing around

Pat.....and everyone else, thanks

Hey ,

I do prefer foam over wool but they both serve a purpose or better fill a role. Wool are nice for quick leveling BUT this means more time cleaning up not only the mess they make, as you know first hand, but also the swirls they leave behind.

Lambs wool (belly pads) are great pads to use on paint when a "soft" wool pad is needed....not even really correct to call them "wool". Blended pads are those that cause alot of shedding when run or spurred. Lambswool shed next to nothing.

I prefer to level, polish and finish all with foam but it's nice to have lambswool and wool pads when needed.

Lambswool definately has a place in your arsenal, I'm going to have to pick up a test panel.. i would like to test out a few lambswool polishing pads ..

How about a full polishing video you can call it..1day -1detail with anthony orosco
