Edge backing plates?

Hi guys
I am living over seas in Hong Kong so I had to buy a 220v makita. The only backing plate option I can find is the edge system because the spindle is M16. Can anyone confirm the edge backing plates are good, bad or other? If they are no good, I can change the spindle, but it is a big PITA. I am thinking I will get a 6inch and 4 inch egdge2000 quick change set up and also their hook and loop back plate 4 and 6" so I can use other pads like maybe LC. Also I am having a lot of trouble finding any kind of products other than tons of 3M stuff. I am used to using maguire's products so this is new to me. I assume I will have to import pads, but I would like to hear what anyone thinks of 3M. I have read here that you polish it until dry and I have never done that with MG....
suggestions?
Cheers
S

Re: Edge backing plates?

if your getting the Edge 2000 just stick with it. It will be a bother to change and the foam is the same. you only need one adapter for the edge system and with that you can use any edge 2000 pad...
