PC 7336 – Which Back Plate & Foam Pad You Recommend?

I got myself a PC 7336 from Lowes for $71.00. Which back plate and foam pad should I get? There’s auto paint supplies in my area. You think they carry the back plate & foam pad? it will be for a white 2006 car. I just need foam pad to apply wax. I dont think I even need to polish the car yet. thanks. scott

I bought the Sonus pad kit from this site and it was at my door in 2 days.

You could probably get pads locally but why not support a site that is so helpful.

Plus you know you're getting good products.

just my .02.

Re: PC 7336 – Which Back Plate & Foam Pad You Recommend?

I got my backing plate and 6 Red Pads from here:
Classic Motoring Accessories - Car Care and Detailing Supplies
In fact, I have bought almost everything on-line, since Pep Boys doesn't carry any of the really good stuff, nor does Kragen, Auto Zone or any other Auto Parts Stores.
Plus, it is so convenient and it is delivered right to my door.
I have the complete Menzerna suite, Orange/Green, White/Black & Red pads, Microfiber towels, brushes, wheel cleaners, car wash, tire dressings, special spray nozzels, etc.
All that ordered on-line from a variety of sources besides Classic.

I would get a 6" backing plate and 7.5" pads. The backing plate should be urethane, and the pads i use are made by lake country. I order from properautocare.com, but thats only one of many good online retailers for this kind of stuff...

Get a 5" backing plate and some 6.5" pads. If you go over that size in a pad the PC tends to bog down when polishing. Order them from Danase before Christmas and you'll get 15% off.

The Sonus kit is also worth looking at:

Sonus DAS Pad Kit

I haven't really used a pad I haven't liked yet (Meg's, LC, Propel, Sonus), but the above suggestions will get you started fairly cheaply and you can expand from there in the future. I would suggest getting at least two of each pad you think you might be using to start with.

6 BP/6.5 pads for me. I'd be lost without it.....I prefer keeping the BP as close to the pad size as possible. I really think the perimeter torque is much more appreciative that way.

Yea, Patrick who just posted(above) has helped me out a ton. If you have any questions about pads or anything he has great service (check out exceldetail.com).

P.S. I didn't purchase from his site because some other holiday offers that were going on from other sites but he was still glad to help me make my purchase from them! Thanks Patrick!
