ZPC and Megs burgandy pad...

I haven't tried it with that pad, but as far as I am concerned, Z-PC isn't worth the shipping I paid for it. I hate to say that because I am a DIE-HARD Zaino fan. I was EXTREMELY disappointed with Z-PC. Even IF I thought it worked well, the DUST!! The DUST MAN!!! It's horrendous! I went running back to OHC and OC for my pre-Zaino prep.

I know I didn't have an anwer for what you asked, but hope that was somewhat helpful.

I'm also a Zaino fan, but there was tons o' dust. Great smelling dust though

That's an awful mild polish to use with such an agressive pad. What circumstance would drive you to use that combo?

Yeah, I don't see any benefit to using the 7006 with ZPC but I do see some potential downsides.

I can see using an aggressive product on a mild pad, but not a mild product on an aggressive pad, that would be a worst-of-both-worlds situation. The Meg's 7006 will sometimes leave micromarring so you'll quite possibly have to follow up with something milder anyhow, and the ZPC will only cut as much as it's gonna cut no matter what pad you apply it with.

Meg's Burgundy pad marrs black paint! Quite badly, actually! Visibly dulls the finish, and even Optimum Polish/Megs Polishing pad will not remove the marring...

I have to use LakeCountry Yellow and OHC to remove the marring, but it does leave a nearly perfect finish :thumbup:

Agreed. That's a complete mismatch.

It is better to use more aggressive polish/compound and less aggressive pad (especially via rotary) because it will allow you to finish down better. Let the polish do the work. If you use a very aggressive pad and a mild polish, the extent to which you can finish down is limited by the rough pad. However, you can achieve the same level of cut by going with a strong polish (OC, PG/RMG, etc.) and a white polishing pad, yet if your work the polish long enough so that the abrasives break down, it will finish off wonderfully. Much better approach.

thanks guys- I was just wondering. I've used the ZPC with a Tropicare orange pad to remove hollogramming and swirls so I wondered if a more agressive pad might be even more effective for a first pass. ZPC has a long working time on a cool surface but from my experience it will dry pretty fast on a warm surface or in the sun. I had good luck with sprying the surface with a QD prior to ZPCing to reduce dusting and allow longer work time.
