recommend a pad kit for a newb with a 7336

my brother in law just got me a 7336 (thats the same as the 7424, with the exception of a larger counter weight right?)

it came with a stiff backing plate, i'm guessing that wouldn't work out too well. i'm looking for a nice set of pads with a plate that would fit my 7336

it would be used on an 05 indigo ink pearl scion tc with some swirls

i'm thinking about this sonus kit, looks nice:

I'd recommend a Lake Country backing plate and Variable Contact pads.. I've really liked them. I'd get one of each color. You could probably get away w/o having the yellow or black.. just getting the orange and white... but who knows.. you'll probably find a use for them. I use the Yellow for 3M Perfect-It II Fine Cut, the Orange for SSR2.5 or DACP, the White for #80 Speed Glaze, and the Grey for #82 or SSR1

For someone that doesn’t have anything for the PC, I would look at thee Edge 2000 pads, yes they are more expensive but for the convenience and safety alone there worth it. Plus you can use both sides. Panshak has a kit for $80. Sonus pads are good, don’t let the backing plate scare you, that can happen to all of them!

Get the 7336 from a local Lowe's. You'll need the larger counterweight it comes with for just about any pad kit you buy as it is.

I really like the Propel 6" backing plate and Propel, Meguiars and Lake Country pads.

I have the 7424 w/ stock counterweight and no unusual vibration with any pad but my flat white pad.

just got home w/ my 7336SP.

it makes an odd clicking/clanking noise when i turn it on... i'm guessing it's the sound of the counter weight bouncing around and it shouldn't be an issue?

also.. backing plates for 7424 will fit 7336's?

why are the 7336SP's only $109 in store while 7424's seem to be 130 online ?

A little bit of a rhythmic clicking is normal... mine does it too... I had the same exact concern first time I heard it. Yeah backing plates are same.

hate to hijack the thread but...

going to order the following from autogeek...

edge dual action 6" kit
optimum polish
optimum compound
meguiars #80 professional speed glaze

to use on my subaru to remove swirls that are present on the car.

is this a good kit for a starter?
