How to maintain my polisher?

I have a rotary polisher and I want to maintain it in proper working state for long time. How should I keep it and what tasks should I complete in order to have it for many years?

Besides "read the manual and do what they say", my advice would be to not worry about it

I know guys who never do anything to their makitas and still get many years of near-daily use out of them. I never did anything to the Cyclo in 20 years (some of those commercial use by abusive employees) and when I sent it in for service they said it didn't really need anything.
