Just Got my own

So heres my 7336, I have to read a lot more to use it though. I have an older car to practice
on. I still have to get some pads and bp's though. I just saw a thread here about a bp
breaking off. So I dont think I will be polishing for quite a while. But now I think I feel a little
bit closer to Autopia!

Congrats on the new toy! I wouldnt be too worried about the backing plate issue. Many of us have never had a problem with it, so I dont think you need to be scared of its quality. Im sure you will love the PC, it is worth every penny! Hope to see some pictures in the future of your experience with the PC! Any ideas as to what polishes you are going to be using?

Yeah, don't worry about the plate breaking. Personally I think some of the PC's shake like crazy causing too much stress on the plates. I know my PC needs a good service because it is about 5 years old and is starting to shake pretty good compaired to when it was new.

Why buy it and not use it? The flex plate breaking is one in a million, don't let that stop you.

You could always try the Edge 2000 system with an adapter in lieu of a backing plate. FWIW, I have both the Edge 2000 system and the "standard" hook & loop pads and backing plates and have had pretty good success with both. Would come down to personal preference. I think a lot of people with PC's already have hook & loop backing plates and pads so they would tend to stay with that. At around $18, the adapter for the Edge 2000 system is about 2-3x as much as typical flexible backing plates. I actually picked up the hook&loop system primarily for use iwth 4" pads only and have since added the larger pads.
