Slight hazing/problems with SSR2.5 followed up by PP.

So yeah, did up the whole GTI.

Had some deep scratches, so I started off with SSR2.5 and a yellow pad.

I noticed that the SSR2.5 would have some weird issues, the pad would get caked VERY EASY and it dusted a LOT, even in the cool garage I was in. As expected, the paint got very hazy but wasn't taking out as many defects as I thought it would. Now, I would think that would be due to the fact that I wasn't working it long enough, but if I kept working it, I would just get mega dusting and the buildup on the pad would start caking onto the car itself. Any good tips on using SSR2.5? It just seemed really difficult to work with.

After I finished with the 2.5, I changed to 1z PP on a white pad. It was great, however I noticed if I worked the PP too long it got to the point where it would leave a LOT of wetness on the car. Like all of the abrasives were gone and it was just rubbing the solvents on the paint.

After I completed this step, it looked GOOD, but I noticed that when I pulled my masking tape off, the paint below the tape actually looked BETTER than the paint I finished with PP. It had more scratches, but the finish itself was more smooth, and it was obvious the paint I did with the PP was still slightly hazy.

Any tips on removing this haze? Was the PP still too harsh, or am I missing a step between the SSR2.5 and the PP to remove the hazing? Should I try SSR2.5 on a white pad after the yellow?

I don't understand how anyone could move from SSR2.5 directly to an LSP after my experience with it.

I noticed SSR2.5 and a yellow pad hazed very easily, and as I stated in another post- going to a white pad was not enough to remove the haze. What I ended up doing was moving down to a less abrasive pad WITH the SSR2.5 to bring the gloss up a bit, then moved to a white finishing pad and finishing polish. It was still a lot of work, so I only did the hood like this, the rest of the panels I with a green 6" FK pad (a step below a propel yellow) and followed up with Mothers Powerpolish on white. This brought gloss back well, but didnt do much for swirl removal, mainly swirl minimizing.

So using SSR2.5 with a white pad in between might be a better option?

What about another product? Anyone have any suggestions?

why not follow up with ssr1 on a white or yellow. PS it helps knowing which pad company your refering too. They all make a yellow pad.

these are LC VC pads.

I don't have SSR1

IC what do you have? I have ssr 1... but that ain't gunna do you a chits bit of good now is it.

In that case what company's pads maybe try using it on a finishing pad instead of cutting.

worse case senario. fake a car fire.

LOL, I'm pretty sure this can be corrected, I'm just not sure if the issue is needing another in between step or a final final polish step.

It may sound old-fasioned, but I use Meguiars Heavy or Medium-Cut Cleaner on a Meguiars Burgundy pad, and it left almost no hazing, and took out all swirlmarks, and even rounded off some of the scratches slightly!

Dusted a lot, but it was 30C here
