How many times to polish?

I finally got around and ordered some OHC and a orange pad to take a try on my hood, roof and rear hartch. I have posted before about my water etching and i read alot about ohc and orange pad. How many times can i polish one area before i will have to stop due to clearcoat issues. My water etching can be seen really badly against halogen and can be felt in alot of areas. I can actually see how deep it is.

I will be using FMJ for the moment becuase i can only do it in areas and after that i will probably go to Zaino.

I'm pretty sure that no one will be able to answer that for you because:
1)They don't know how thick your paint is currently and
2)They won't know how much you take off in one pass of polishing

Do you know for certain that your car has never been polished before? If so, I guess you can assume the clear coat is essentially the same depth as when it left the factory (more or less).

I don't know anything about water etching, but do you think you could use anything like the TouchUp 123 mentioned in this thread?
