Helpful suggestion to improve responses in this forum

Please do not refer to pads by color type. Not all manufacturers use the same colors for the same level of aggressiveness. Asking if the yellow pad by so and so is the right pad to use is going to get you a ??? from those who don't use those pads. Forget the color, that is just to look pretty. If you ask if the polishing pad by so and so is the correct pad for your situation is going to allow more people to answer your question more quickly.

I agree. Not to sound mean or anything, but I usually ignore posts that ask for advice on "blue pads" because I don't want to deal with a back-and-forth converstation within the thread. Isn't there a chart someone made that explains which colors different companies use to code for aggressiveness? It should really be a sticky.

We should ID pads by PPI.

Manufacturers should standardize on the colours.

Yeah , I think that would help avoid confusion.
By the way , here's a comparison chart from CMA-PAC , but it's pretty general :

Not going to happen, they aren't going to cooperate on that level.

As long as everyone refers to the pad's rating instead of color, they can get their questions answered more quickly.

If they state the manufacturer, then specifying the pad color is fine.

eh, even so, I don't yet know each manufacturers color lineup by heart (yet). Just saying cutting, polishing, finishing, etc would be nice
