| Should polish removal be this tough?
I bought a PC, a Sonus DAS pad kit and two Sonus polishes, SFX-2 and SFX-3, back in June. I’ve used each of the polishes two or three times now and have managed to largely eliminate my first problem: polish splatter. The problem – if it really is one – that has persisted is difficult polish removal. Buffing off both of the Sonus polishes takes quite a bit more effort than any of the hand-applied polishes I used before buying the PC did. (Those polishes were Malm’s Ultra-Fine, Griot’s Fine Hand Polish and an Eagle One product, the name of which I forget. None required much elbow grease to remove.) I really don’t think I’m using an excessive amount of product or applying it to the paint improperly. I’m running one line of polish across the pad and then working the polish until I sense that there’s not much dampness left. When I made the Sonus purchase, I was advised to work the polish until it almost disappears. That, it seems to me, is basically impossible to do; before I can get to the almost-disappearing point, the drying of the polish and pad tell me that it’s time to reapply polish. The amount of polish on the paint waiting to be buffed off doesn’t look excessive -- the appearance is just like what I came to expect when I did my polishing by hand – but that haze certainly doesn’t come off easily. Because the Sonus polishes are the only products I’ve used with the PC, I have nothing to compare them with, so I thought I’d see if anyone here could offer any insights and/or advice. By the way, I’m not dissatisfied with the results I’ve gotten from the Sonus polishes; I just wish removing them was easier. |
