Broken PC?!?!

I was in the middle of detailing a customer's car on Saturday when my PC started to cut out. It would bog down and then completely stop working. I picke dit up and shook it a little and started up for a second or two then died. I am afraid that the motor may be burned out because it will come on for a short while and then just become weak and die. I bought it from coastaltool about a month ago and does know what kind of warranty these have? I need to fix this or get a replacement asap because i cannot work without it.

the pc should have a 1 year manufacturer warranty from the date you purchased it (probably need the receipt). good luck and take care!

the same exact thing just happened to me! I wonder how common this is, I was pretty dissapointed (newer pc user) as everyone raves about the quality of the PC. This was only my third detail with the PC. I replaced it with a 7336 from lowes, and this one seems to be ok for now. We'll see how it holds up! good luck

Do you think lowes or home depot would qualify as an authorized porter cable service station?

no. i believe you have to take it to an actual authorized porter-cable service center so they can inspect/repair it.

If you use it that much it may pay to get Meguiars version of the PC they call the G100, it's a little more but it comes with a lifetime warranty and backing plate and one pad.

true. but.... for the cost, you can get TWO pc's and generally they last for many years without any problems. i guess sometimes it's just an isolated case?

Just curious in retrospect do you tug, yank or pull on the cord too much? Not being critical wondering what, if anything, you do that we should avoid?

Costal tool rocks, they will send you a copy of the reciept if you lost it but you will have to send it to the waranty shop for repair. I know that costal will replace it if it is within 30 days though, they are a class act. oops my bad I meant Mytoolstore rocks, got them mixed up, but if you bought it through the mail you should be getting a 30 day garauntee anyhow, I think it is the law in many states.

That’s only if you compare the Meguiar’s list price with Lowe’s discount price.

Even if you pick up a PC for $100 you still need a backing plate and a real pad. So let’s say one pad and a packing plate cost $25 for a total of $125.

Auto detailing solutions sells the G100 with a backing plate and a W8006 polishing pad for $150. So you get the lifetime warrenty for about $25.

PC.
