So now I have IP & FPII, what next? (Color Sand Gone Wrong)

Well as some of you may know, this is the issue: ( 2000 Grit Color Sand )

I'm planning on going over the rough spots with some 3000 grit before repair to minimize sanding marks. As for my attack by machine I was planning on a PC with Menzerna IP & FPII, RMG, and then Souveran by hand. I picked up the IP, FPII, and Souveran today I just have a few more products to order like the PC, RMG, some MF towels, and pads. I want to get a wool pad as I think I may need it but I was planning:

IP / Yellow 6" 5?
FPII / White 6" 4?
RMG / Black 6" Speed?
Souveran by hand

If the IP on yellow 6" doesn't work I'm also planning on getting some 4" spot pads in yellow and that 6" wool pad.. maybe a 4" is I can find it. I feel better safe then sorry, whatever I don't use now I may have someone who needs it later. Oh yeah, and I need to get the PC too!

So what do you guys think? Any suggestions? This week, it's going down!

I took it to the guys next door to my shop for color sanding.. I posted months ago when I first got it done but I've since let it sit in the garage. Now I'm going to complete the car so I need to bring the paint up. None of the marks are very deep but the surface needs a good working. I don't think I'm capable of a rotary yet so I'll stick with a PC since I have some experience now with one.

Anyhow, for more pics or details on the damage do a search for threads I've started you should find it.

I don't think IP is going to cut it, if you like mezerna's you'll probably need to get some powergloss.

Just remember to test the area first.....Least agressive to most. you dont want to make more of a mess.

IP won't cut it.....and neither will a PC. You're going to atleast need Powergloss and a rotary. I know from experience.

Well I just ordered some MF products, RMG, and Powergloss from Ranney (Aloha!) from Pakshak. When I was looking into products for my car I didn't see anything about Powergloss. Only until I was looking for info did I find it, and MAN did I find good news. I'm looking forward to getting started on this porject to see what kind of results I can get. From what I was reading Powergloss is good for up to 1000 grit sanding marks. With that being said, I think a PC @ 5-6 with Powergloss should be able to handle my surface...

You may be right about the IP, but I'm not so sure about the PC bit - take a look at this thread and see if it changes your mind...

Hey 2JZFAN, I'm down in Melbourne, so if you find that you need a rotary or its just not something you can tackle by yourself, I'd be happy to help for the cost of gas and lunch. Drop me a PM if you're interested.

update

as an update a new thread ha been started as i've finally started the restoration of the finish: http://autopia.org/forum/showthread.php?t=65455

i don't know the policy on crosslinking threads but I thought it important to tie all previous threads to the new one for anyone searching archives.
