Can I use a power polisher to buff the wax coat?

When I apply wax by hand, either carnuba paste or liquid, can I buff this with a polisher when it's dry? Do I use a foam pad?

I have a problem with bad tendons in my arms and early joint degeneration. Buffing the wax coat by hand is very painful. I have a nice Milwaukee power polisher (0 - 1700 r.p.m.) that I have used to compund and polish out a few scratches in the clear coat. Now I would like to use it to buff the car after applying the wax coat.

Yeah, you can use the polisher to remove LSP (Last Step Product, i.e., "wax"). I first started doing that when I had injuries I needed to recover from. But don't use the foam pad, it won't work all that well. Get some MF bonnets and fit those over the foam pad...I forget who sells them for units like yours and I'm not sure which size you need anyhow, but I know they're out there.

I have a couple of Meg 6 1/2" Soft Buff Foam Finishing Pads that came with my polisher. Guess I'll just look for a 6 1/2" - 7" MF Bonnets?

I'm in Ontario, Canada. Who's a good on-line supplier to order from?

or you could get a cheap orbital with a mf bonnet or place a mf towel under a foam pad

I'd see what Meg's has to offer, at least for starters. I never know who ships to you folks up across the border.

I assume you're talking about a Milwaukee rotary. Yeah it's really nicely made, but it's a heavy, powerful beast. I'd be very scared to use it with bonnets for product removal. Sounds like an express ticket to swirl city, or worse, burn town.

If you try it start at a very slow speed and keep checking for bonnet loading and surface temperature.

I'm with atticdog, I say get an orbital for removal.

Guess I assumed it wasn't a rotary as the speed range sounds sorta limited....but yeah, if it *is* a rotary I wouldn't use it for this.
