Pad Choice for the Edge 2000?

I have a PC and have decided after too many hours researching the many available pad choices that I want to go with the 2000 system. The two pad choices are the Edge 2000 thick pad and the thinner Classic pad. What are the differences? I will be using mainly on clearcoat paint to remove mild to moderate swirling and for polishing.

The 2000 pad system uses a quick connect adapter for the pads while the classic pads use a backing plate . The classic pads are velcro so you would need a backing plate.
