1st time PC user, could use some insight

am going to be using a PC7336 with the menzerna line

FPII
FTG Final Touch Glaze
&FMJ


have never used a variable speed orbital-
have no clue what speed to set it at, nor how long to work each product in for...

can use all the insight i can get




will be using SM Arnold Pads from www.wcdetail.com:

green (use w/ FPII?) *most abrasive of the three, said to be used to buff out swirls*


blue (use with FTG?) *polishing/finishing pad*


white (use w/ FMJ?) *polishing/finishing pad, but less abrasive than the blue pad*



will also have 2 'DF' concours polishing bonnets, not sure how these will fit into the job...

will be detailing two cars, both in very good shape, just minor swirling and waterspot etching....

FP would not be my first choice for removing swrils. I use FP with a white (polishing) LC pad at about speed 5 slowly to enhance the gloss. If you cann't remove the swrils I would suggest using IP with a orange or yellow (cutting ) pad on speed 5 or alittle higher. Correcting paint tames some time with the PC so be patient.

the swirls arent too bad at all, but im going to see what i can do with the products i have..

guess where im still lost is speed settings, amount of time each product will need to be worked in..

Just start slow. Spread the product on speed 3-4 and then crank it up to about 5 for polishing/compounding. This can be tricky while the machine is on. You could just turn it off, or spread the polish with the pad while the PC is of. Work a 2x2 section till the product is almost gone.

Hey there buddy,

I find FPII too mild to really remove swirls with a PC. Although I know its possible (it is a mechanical abrasive after all), you will be polishing a long, long time. Definitely break out IP for those swirls.

I must give props to "blkyukon" as his tutorial has helped me alot.

In regards to your final question, I prefer to apply FTG with a finishing pad and FMJ by hand. FMJ is extremely easy on and off as long as you do not work on a hot surface (at least from my experience). Note: FMJ left a permanent light stain on my applicators.

Only thing i can reccomend is use it in slow passes...when you think your moving side to side slow enough...slow down
