Rotary experiment w/AIO

I detailed the Focus with the latex paint splatter today. I was able to get all of the paint off of one section, and about 50% off the adjoining panel.

Anyhow on to the experiment. The car is only a few years old and is metallic silver. There were no real paint defects and I really want the practice with the rotary.

Since there were no major scratches or swirls to deal with, I decided to try AIO with a finishing pad and the rotary on the #2 setting.

I used a terry-covered foam applicator to spread the AIO over sections of the body panels, then took the rotary and buffed the section until the AIO was gone. Then I used a MF to buff off the residue. When the whole car was complete I put on a coat of Insulator.

Sorry there are no pics, but the finish came out perfect. There were a few isolated scratches that were not removed, but that's no surprise since all I used was the AIO.

The results make me want to try again on a dark colored car to see if I get as good of results.

Next time, before you AIO, try some Menzerna FP or P085RD with a finishing pad at about 1200-1500 RPM. BTW - fairly safe!

You not regret the expense of those polishes, expecially the P085RD.

Lookey here (P085RD)

Surely a rotary is too much for AIO? What I mean is, I have found if I try to apply AIO with a PC at anything over 3 it flashes/dries within a couple of seconds. Doing this with a rotary at any low setting would flash AIO within a second or two due to the heat the rotary generates. Effectively meaning the potential for running the pad directly against the surface of your car with no lubrication whatsoever ...
