Can PC induce holograms?

I buffed Meg 83 last week followed with 81 and NXT with Meg pad. I notice several areas have very light holograms. Did I miss something?

You may have picked up some foreign debris on the pad, and introduced it to the rest of the car! Just a thought....also, not a bad idea to switch to an identical pad 1/2 way throught the job, to avoid things like that in the future......Thats why i always have t or 3 of the same pads on hand, per job.....

Many times you can "push" the PC (along with all other polishers) too fast, thus the product (if abrasive) is not able to break down so one is then basically grinding the abrasives into the paint, which can cause marring.

As far as the PC with 83 causing halograms (swirls) I highly question that. It may be though as Patrick stated, that you have some debris in the pad.

Anthony

Yeah, it doesn't sound like "true holograms", but different kinds of fine marring can look similar. Given the nature of #83, it could even just be a case of it's not having been properly broken down.

And often #83 (at least by PC) will require a follow up with a milder, but still abrasive product (#81 is nonabrasive). Maybe try #82 after the #83 next time. And be sure to work the #83 a very long time.

Heh heh, or find easier to use products

hehe Accumulator
I'll try 3M PI-III MG 05937 tomorrow to see whether the could go away. But I have to admit that TS oil in it really got me hooked.

Might take a little doing to cut through the fresh NXT with MG. Hope the MG is also aggressive enough to remove your marring.

Thats what I have been doing. I'm finding other products that IMO are easier to work with.

Everytime I experience holograms, FPII wipes them out, for what it's worth. And I have never gotten hologramming from FPII, but I have with IP and other more aggressive polishes, from time to time.
