Have a pc now

Hey all, i just picked up my first PC! Its the 7336 from Lowes. I figured this would be the one to buy, since it has the 6" counterweight installed from the factory, and it was availible locally. I was even given a 10% discount as the box was opened and it was a bit dusty, but it did not appear to have been used; the original foam pad was not used, the sanding pad and instructions and wrench were sealed in their OEM bag.

So I opted for the 10$ extended warrenty from Lowes. Figured it probably wont bite me in the rear. Yesterday I picked up a white and yellow megs pad, along with the megs 6.5" pad attachment from a paint shop that was recomended to me by wash_me. I will probably buy some LC pads eventually, as I understand they are better, however for now I figure this is good.

Next step is to get on the Jimmy. It will be gone over with clay and at least 80, if not 83 and diamond cut.

Cant wait! Weather here in Idaho has been nice to me as of late. I actually got a chance to wash the car with my new NXT wash. Hopefully things will hold up for a chance with the PC.

Congrats, you will love the pc.

I dont think the LC pads are "better" then the megs ones.

I would also pop over to megs on line and ask around about that Diamond Cut, i think it is for rotary only. Even so, i have heard of no one here using it, maybe once after a wet sand job, but for swirl and scratch removal, NO, no diamond cut. #83 for great for me, even on some deeper scratches, just have to go over the area a couple times.

What is the problem with the paint

Well wash_me has offered to help with my paint a bit, and he has the rotary for the DC if the DACP wont get all of it out.

The paint has lots of water spots and swirles. It looks horrid under a street light, like a spider has been crawling around on the hood and sides.

I believe anything with the word cut in it from meguiars is for rotary only.

Update:

Went to wash_me's house on Sunday after washing the g/f's car, as well as my sis's new car. First step was to oogle the white C-class white Benz he has. Then we washed the Jimmy with NXT soap and dried it. He uses alot of Pro Wax products, so he started with some of their buffing compound, i assume similar to DACP. He did this using this Makita high speed buffer and a wool pad, or synthetic wool pad; he'd have to verify that. This removed all waterspots, and noticably removed a bunch of spider webs and what not from the surface. Very nice stuff, and excellent work with a rotary!

Then he showed me how to use the PC with my yellow Megs pad and some Swirl Remover 2.0. This polished the surface even more, and added a beautiful shine and slickness to the surface. The key I learned that day was go sloooooowwwwww with the pc. Cant stress this enough. After that, he went to work around the car with the rotary and compound, and I applied #16 to the areas finished with the PC. I then followed behind him and PC'd and 16'd till the car was finished. Beautiful shine. Its a white car so yeah, but it looks 100 times better. We did not work on the lower section of the car because that needed claying and tar removal just a bit. THe rest of the paint was very very clean. No pics right now, as it was gettin dark, however i will take some on thursday after I wash her up as it rained a bit yesterday.
