Polishing machine extension
i was wondering if any people here have ever used and extension for their polishing, compounding, or waxing. At times you need some additional space to maneuver around that side mirror or those rails on top of that roof. i was reading some of these threads and read that some members were making some extensions for their machines. well i have made some and want to offer them here to members. prices and pictures are in the classifieds. if you have any question just let me know.

Re: Polishing machine extension
I haven't heard of any extension. On an RO, I think that wouldn't work very well...

Re: Polishing machine extension
In over 15 years of polishing I have never needed any sort of extention... What in the world did they change on cars now that I would have to go and buy something like this??

Some of these extentions do work, like around roof racks.

Re: Polishing machine extension
What *are* these "extensions"
I just use large pads, the over-hanging outer edge fits into tight spots while the machine's housing stays safely back far enough that it doesn't bump into the mirror/rack.

Re: Polishing machine extension
i would agree with people that have been doing this for a long time but there is always room for change or improvement. i personally think the having the machine slightly elevated helps me see better where i am polishing or compounding. also like Legacy said around roof racks they work too.

That is how I would approach it. Doesn't seem very feasible for an extension to work on a DA without causing considerable vibration and undulation.

here are a few pics. of the extensions. They bolt on to the shaft of the rotary polisher then you bolt on your backing plate.

Also, at the moment these extensions are for rotary.

Re: Polishing machine extension
Rick at ADS has been selling them for quite a while. They actually look pretty handy. I was considering getting one, but lately 105/205 by hand seems much more convenient in the small areas I can't get with the machine.

Oh, OK...yeah, I have those for mine, currently have one mounted on the Metabo. I don't consider them all that beneficial for getting around things, but OK...I guess so.

Re: Polishing machine extension
I forgot to mention that the longer extensions have 19mm slots so you can use your 19mm wrench to tighten/loosen to the Bp or machine.
