Question about KBM??

In Kevin Brown's last update post, he mentions using 205 with a black/grey finishing pad using the KBM method with this combo. Why is it nesessary to use KBM method for a final polish with such a soft pad? Why can't you just do the final step the old fashioned way? Is there a difference in shine or pop? I guess I just thought after removing the defects you could just burnish the paint with a DA same as usual. Any thoughts?

Re: Question about KBM??

Its easier IMO to use M205.

Re: Question about KBM??

I'm not talking about product, I'm asking about technique. Why the push down hard KBM vs. just light final polishing with a soft polishing pad? Is KBM better even during the final step?

Re: Question about KBM??

In my somewhat limited experience with it, the M205 works best with some pressure (I know, that's not what the label says).

If you want to use a finishing pad with it, I'd use the newer Meg's black one; otherwise I find that finishing pads (e.g., LC black) don't really work better than some polishing pads, at least on hard clear.

The only time I do the "virtually no pressure" thing is with *really* light burnishing/jeweling on an already "perfect" finish, and for that I'd use something that finishes out better than M205 anyhow. Unless a finish is already to the point where most would say it can't get any better, I apply pressure.

Re: Question about KBM??

That pretty much sums it up. Thanks
