Polishing Problems - UDMv1.0

Hey everyone, I encountered a problem while polishing the hood of my red G35. I hit it with a combo of Orange CCS pad w/ SSR2.5 and then followed with White pad w/SSR1. It got rid of holograms but RIDS still remained. I then tried a Green pad w/SSR1 to no avail.

Most of the polishing was done in speed 5 because speed 6 really left my hands stinging. Do you guys think its because i polished in speed 5 and not 6 that it didnt finish down? or Do i need to change my approach?

Also, I spent 3 hours on just the hood and I was too tired to finish the rest. Is 3 hours normal for just the hood with a DA?

that i'm not sure of . . . . . you might want to step up your pad to help cut through some of the stuff you are having trouble with.

Possibly a yellow ccs or even a purple foamed wool.

In the future you might want to grab ahold of a Flex DA to help cut down on time as well. Though i do know someone who uses a UDM and gets great results.

Once you get the hang of things it will take you less time.

Re: Polishing Problems - UDMv1.0

I hope so. I dont think im a complete noob at detailing because I've been on this site for awhile. I'd love to get a flex but I've invested in the UDM and want to put some use on it. I was thinking about getting a yellow CCS pad to test out. My car is a 2004, and has never been polished before so i figure thats why its so tough to polish. Maybe I should try the 105/205 combo everyones raving about?

What have you done to prepare the paint? If you didn't claybar, it can make polishing really painful IMHO.

Oh, I am familiar with the process. Wash, Clay, Wash again. This is a car that hasnt been waxed in over a year, so i wasnt worried about any leftover protection.
