Re: Seeing is believing-video
simply amazing scott. You were able to work that 105 in pretty long before it flashed and what not. Looks like the KB method works pretty well.

Re: Seeing is believing-video
yeap, that's the way to do it. if it's not cutting as much, i would just use a sprit of water on the pad and then rework the polish back in. Glad to see the writeup Scott.

Re: Seeing is believing-video
hey did you pick that towel up off the floor?? HAHAH! Just kidding. Anyways this has given me a really great idea... I'm in the midst of training a bunch of dealership "detailers" to do a better job all while trying to keep the process as idiot proof as possible. Wonder if I can get the owners to spring for a buttload of D/A's now

Towel was stuck under the front door handle (you can see it before I start polishing) and in my hand when I turned off the camera (look at the reflection off the car). So there.

Re: Seeing is believing-video
Impressive.
Are you worried about the amount of clear that this aggresive method is removing?

Re: Seeing is believing-video
I think Mike Phillips did a thread once where they took readings on a hood for thickness, then proceeded to wet sand, compound with wool and foam and then polish - with measurements taken at each step. I was surprised to see how little clear was removed vs how much improved the finish got. Todd did a simular test but showed how the PC could correct as much as a rotary. These are old threads and I'm too old and lazy to locate them.
But - given the number of KBM'ers out there, and no one has posted the " I F'd up my paint" thread, I'd say it's as safe as anything else. Remember, it's like anything else, if you correct the paint and keep bad washing habits, correct again, and again, eventually you'll be calling the bodyshop. I spend a little time (trying) to educate my customers how not to need buffing every 6 months.

Re: Seeing is believing-video
Good question Pat. I'm wondering the same Scott... I know that meguiar's produced a new Version of 105 that's for the DA's. I'm not certain how but was that the 105 that you used?

I would if you had to do it on a regular basis.
