Re: PC polishing with Meguiars 105... drying to fast!
Be careful with 106FF. It can do some pretty amazing concealing, even a well-regarded pro here had it hide some awful holograms. I know this one from first-hand experience as I watched the holograms reappear months later while the vehicle was in storage; the wax was still 100% but the previously invisible holograms appeared like magic (black magic).

With some polishes, the oils in them that serve as lubricants can also fill in some light. You can wipe the panel down with 50% isopropyl alcohol after polishing to be sure none of this "filling" is going on.

oh I see... I usually try to wash the car i'm working on after the polishing to remove any oils and such that may have built up... hopefully that is enough.

Interesting thread.
I've yet to use #105 yet, but I had no idea it dried so fast.
I like D151 PRC a lot. It gives you plenty of buff time.

Re: PC polishing with Meguiars 105... drying to fast!
The first time I tried M105 (v2) was in the shade on a hot dry day, and even doing a 2'x2' area, it was drying before I could make a 2nd pass through the area. On a cooler, humid day it was easier, but with the dusting and having to do such small areas, I found myself using OC/OP instead for a similar final result.

That's a larger area than I'd do with M105.

Re: PC polishing with Meguiars 105... drying to fast!
Don't mean to thread-jack but I came on today to post basically the same issue.
I find that M105 dries to fast too and I'm looking for something else to use. My machine is a G110 and I use LC CCS pads.
The two compounds I've been thinking about are Menzerna Power Gloss or 3M Heavy Duty Rubbing Compound or 3M Perfect It III Extra Rubbing Compound.
My main use is to try to attack some clear coat failure (not looking for perfection, but some kind of improvement) and just some of the normal issues. I would follow up with M205.
Any input would be great.

Re: PC polishing with Meguiars 105... drying to fast!
I used M105 for the first time the other night. I, like many of you, have been using Menzerna, but after all the talk of it from some very top notch detailers, I decided to give it a whirl. I found that it does dry too fast, but it was also a very humid night here in Florida, and with the halogens on the paint, it probably didn't make things better. My conclusion is that I did not have my wool pad primed enough so any product I was using was getting sucked into the pad. Try priming your pad a little more and continue working with it. I wouldn't give up on it because it is a great product, one that, as of right now, stands above anything Menzerna offers.

I too have had many of the frustrations that you guys have had with 105. Then I finally started listening to Accumulator.
I cut my work area down to about 1x1 and used only 4" pads. I get a lot less dusting and better results. It also helps to work in cooler humid weather.

Re: PC polishing with Meguiars 105... drying to fast!
I'm a rotary guy and haven't tried M105 with a foam pad. Can't imagine how
effective this would be, but with a wool pad at around 900rpm (slow & low temps)
it is very efficient (on fresh paint). Lightly mist w/ water, one cross bead, spread
600, work 1'x1' @ 900/1000rpm. It can be finicky at times but overall very efficient.

Re: PC polishing with Meguiars 105... drying to fast!
I use M105 with both a Makita rotary and a Makita dual action .I just light mist the pad with FK425 and it works great . I do use a little lower RPM with M105 . Super nice finish
At the begining is weird coming from Menzerma products , but you get use to it .
Cheers , Jean Paul
