Hows Does He Do It ?

Can anyone make out the polish he is using ?

It looks like the polish never ever dries out, he keeps going and going !, his skills and techniques with the rotary moving it effortlessly along the panel is incredible.

Optimum's polishes will keep going like that, so will Ultrafina to a certain extent. No idea what he is actually using. Soft pad, well lubricated polish and low rpms and you can polish very smoothly for a long time.

Re: Hows Does He Do It ?

Gotta love paul haha... he's really good with that rotary...

One thing I don't get is *** he is looking at in the paint that he polishes over the area as if he sees a spot in the carpet which needs to be rubbed out in a certain spot only... I'd love to know if I'm missing something, cuz when I look at the paint closely like that I see polish breaking down...

Re: Hows Does He Do It ?

IIRC he mixes his own lubricating oils in with the polishes he uses. That, combined with low RPMS, lets him work stuff forever.

With my knack of diy projects (see cooking thread), this certainly gives me ideas. I would love to be able to work my Menz and 1Z polishes longer.

Re: Hows Does He Do It ?

I gave my rotary skills another go at it this morning following Scottwax's suggestion of lower rpms using OHC on a white LC pad. One thing that helped out alot was noticing how Paul holds the bail handle in the video, notice he uses his fingers to support the weight of the rotary which facilitates the movement and precise control of where you what the rotary to go.

I was quite surprise that with this method even using OHC I was able to get a hologram free polish. Pictures to follow after I am done with my Father Day's gift ...LoL

What kind of backplate is he using ? its smaller then the standard 6-3/4" backplates that come with most rotaries, I think I need the smaller backplate with a longer shaft.

On another note, I found a very inexpensive mod for the bail handle, using a strip from an old bicycle tubing I was able to make a rubber grip on the top of the handle which provides a better grip and more comfy on the palms. The tubing fits like a glove, you need to stretch it abit pass the larger sections, I used a tub of soap to make it glide in a little easier.
