You've probably already seen it, but there's a really good thread in this forum on Flex backing plate problems. They have some tips on how to avoid some potential problems.

Yea - I put some white grease on the gears, and sprayed the ring down pretty good with some silicone spray. Forgot to get the lock washer, but will keep an eye on it until I get one.

(those pix are terrible - taken w/ my phone since my middle kid decided that my Nikon D70 looked like a fun toy... Can't wait to see the bill on that... )
