new wool pad prep

i tried searching and just find the millions of wool pad threads, but nothing specific to this: is there anything special you should do to a brand new wool pad?

(please link to an existing thread if you know of one)

i'm asking because i've read about wool pads shedding. to avoid a mess, do you wash them first, put them in a bucket and spin it up, or some other trick to get the excess off before first use?

thanks-

Re: new wool pad prep

Lowest speed on the rotary. Dip your hand in a bucket of water and place it on the wool pad as it spins, repeat a few times. This will remove some of the excess wool, but you will still get shedding.
