Who's using Meguiars Wool?

Ok, let's hear it guys....Everyone raves about the Solo backing plate and Todd gave a shining review of the solo finishing pad. I'm thinking about grabbing the bp and some single sided wool pads. I've yet to foray into the wool pad zone; however, if I want to keep with the times (and to make life easier ), I think I'd better. I've been talking to Bryan, and he seems to love Edge wool. That's cool, because I'm using the E2K foam at the moment; however, I'm not going to be willing to keep swapping the E2K adapter over the the BP and I think I'm ready to try some of the new foam that's out there (3M UF etc). So what do you guys think of Megs wool? I've been putting this off, but I was checking out my current stock of pads and they're starting to show some wear.

I tried out a couple of their wool pads, and I wasn't totally sold. Not bad pads, but I'm a sucker for the single sided Edge wool pads (you can get them at any bodyshop supply under the Presta name).

Oh yeah? Maybe I will go with the single sided Edge ones then. If I plop the money down for the bp, I think that sounds like the way to go. I think everyone seems to agree about the bp (W66 is it?) though, so that's made the list.

I use the solo wool pads.

The best wool pads i've used so far.

7inch is smaller than the edge 8inch wool pads though.

Have you used the Edge as well?

Re: Who's using Meguiars Wool?

Not a big fan of the different wool pads. The 4000 series is okay at best...

The So1o yellow and marron pads are nice, but wear very quickly. Infact I need to get a hold of Meg's and see if I can get replacements. From the first use, both pads seem to shed fromt the center out, and have probably lost 20 percent of more of the wool (from the center-out). Its very wierd.

I haven't tried the double sided pad yet, but I think its the same as the 4000 series.

Re: Who's using Meguiars Wool?

The yellow Solo wool is a really good pad, good cut and minimal swirling with #105 on ceramiclear but it does shed a bit the first couple of panels (when new).

How many vehicles are you getting out of one pad? I know the Edge ones have an indicator to let you know when they're done.

Only used it on two vehicles, but mostly on the horizontal surfaces. Still holding up nicely.

Re: Who's using Meguiars Wool?

Scott, are you using the Solo backing plate with it? I'm looking getting 95, should I get the heavy wool too or is 95 and the light wool a better choice (I had rather make 2 passes than 1 with a big opps). Thanks
