Yes sir, I'm gonna sell Scottwax's famous Cyclo on Ebay and get rich!!!!!

Naw, I really wanted one and thanks for the fast shipping and all the pads. I'm gonna have to wait till Friday to try it out, but I'm looking really forward to trying it. I love the progress I can make with a 7424, and I'm still learning on my rotary (not using it on customer's cars yet) so I hope the Cyclo will be a great asset.

Thanks again for the good deal and extras, Scott!
Chris

Thanks Accumulator, sounds like you "Accumulate" Cyclos...

I had cyclo brushes I've been using on my PC already, yippie!

Like others here I found it almost intuitive to use but I'll offer this:
When on horizontal surfaces keep it level. You can tell by looking obviously but also by feel. It acts like a mini floor buffer and will move if the handle if lifted or dipped. Try it you'll see what I mean immediately. If it's not trying to go left or right then it's pretty level.

I found the pads get very very soft from the heat if used for a long period of time and don't clean/polish as well. If they feel quite squishy change them.

Anyone else want to offer anything to the thread starter?

Re: Cyclo tips?

Only used the new DoublePrecision™ pads and adapter on mine, so can't offer a great insight into pad choices, but the ones supplied are excellent, especially the Orange and Yellow.
Work well with a wide range of polishes: Menz, 3M, Einzett, Mark V, and System One X.
In fact, with Yellow and soft Jap paint (Honda Accord/Acura TSX), one hit often times with S1X/Mystique will give 100% correction.

Also highly recommend a final buff with the microsuede bonnets on Green (White is too soft) to really bring out the shine.

Due to get some new pads, and a little something special which may replace the bonnets for the final buff.
More info once I have them and tested their effectiveness.
Probably said more than I should've. Ssshh!

Re: Cyclo tips?

PJS- I've had good results with the Blue Sonus brand finishing pads.

Anf FWIW, I like bonnets over the *yellow* pads, but I'm using them to *remove* product, not apply it.

Re: Cyclo tips?

Cheers Accumulator - but of no use to me since I went straight for the DP set-up, and therefore restricted to what Cyclo puts out.
Never tried the regular mf bonnets to remove the LSP, again, a lot of faffing about unless you have a spare set of pads with the bonnet already on them.

That said, it'll be interesting to see how I find the alternative to the suede bonnets, seeing if they do indeed glide more effortlessly over the surface as suggested.

When I'm LSPing, I keep the second Cyclo set up with pads/bonnets for removal

The suede-style bonnets work well for buffing off sealant residue, but I never saw any big differences in the different types of bonnets, they all seem to work about the same when it comes to product removal.

I never tried the bonnets for product *application* though

Re: Cyclo tips?

Just in case I wasn't clear, I buff the LSP manually (might bother one of these days to try the white pads), then go over again with the microsuedes.
Maybe you're right about the bonnets, but I still believe microsuede is better in light of the method outlined above.

As for application by bonnet - don't think I would. I find the manual method for those I've tried, is perfectly fine and preferable, since you get an immediate feel for when you need more product applied to the applicator or panel in question.
With the machine, it's not quite as easily discernible as to when that point is reached.

These new Ultrafine wool pads coming will be to replace the bonnet approach, and we'll see if they do anything better/worse on the appearance side.
