UDM Reliabilty ?

Theres a local rumour going around about the reliability of the UDM. Aside from the motor brush problem that I know of is there anything else ? I have been recommending the UDM to almost everyone, but don't own one myself so I wouldn't know.

Re: UDM Reliabilty ?

Customer service is outstanding if you do have problems. I hear of problems few and far between and nothing but thumbs up if they do in fact have an issue.

If my PC needed replacing a UDM would be shipping to me.

Re: UDM Reliabilty ?

I picked one up a few weeks back and primarily use it to apply sealants and glazes. I love the machine and am happy with the purchase. There was a thread a while back and IIRC the UDM is only experiencing a 3% failure rate- which is phenomenal for 1st gen product. As stated David and Lynn's customer service has an outstanding track record so I wouldn't worry about it.

Re: UDM Reliabilty ?

Here are the threads:

UDM is Broken - Auto Geek Car Care, Car Wax and Auto Detailing Forum
UDM died and AG to the rescue - Auto Geek Car Care, Car Wax and Auto Detailing Forum

Edit: I lost the original threads that states problems with owners of UDMs

Is Meg's DA basically a UDM as well ?, doesn't look much different !

Re: UDM Reliabilty ?

With all rumors you hear about UDM reliability, there are loads of people who have great experiences with the product. Its a great tool backed by fantastic customer service and David and Lynn will make sure everything is taken care of IF you have any issue.

Re: UDM Reliabilty ?

as I remeber there was like 3% of them with a motor brush problem
and they were quickly taken care of

why/how can you recommending the UDM to anybody if you know nothing about it
or think there are problems with it?

Because the UDM are readily available here in Canada and the PC is tougher to get and more expensive. I think this is also the reason Meg's is switching from the PC/G100 as well. I wouldn't be surprise if Meg's new DA is made from the same source as the UDM, most proberly in China. I have no problems if they made there as long as the price and reliability is as good or better than the PC.

I had the detailer at one of the new car dealers get the UDM, so far so good, but he use his rotary most of the time and the UDM just for applying wax/sealent, but it should give me an idea how well the UDM holds up.
