4" Spot Pads and PC Speed?

I'm wondering if PC speeds are directly transferable from 6.5" pads to 4" pads. Say for instance your using a 6.5" polishing pad at speed 5 and you switch to a 4" pad for a tight area: would you still use speed 5 or step it down because of the more aggressive nature of the smaller pad?

Thanks.

i'd still stick with 5 or 6 even with a 4 inch pad.

Re: 4" Spot Pads and PC Speed?

My 4" orange pads don't seem happy at 6, so I crank it back to 5 with those pads.

I've used 6 with orange 4" pads, no problem.

Huh, that's funny

I'm a big advocate of always polishing at speed 6, and I use the 4" pads for all my by-PC correction, but mine get all unstable and just plain weird-behaving compared with my other 4" pads

Well, if your pads work OK at that speed, by all means polish at 6

Re: 4" Spot Pads and PC Speed?

I'm using orange "cool foam" pads that CMA has on clearance, so they have the blue and black backing and the face is cupped like the older style variable contact pads. Don't know if any of that has anything to do with it or not.

Could be...I'm using different ones; the orange pads sold for the Cyclo.
