Re: Finest of Fine Pads

Lake Country Red Pad. The one AG recommend for wax and sealant application
I use it with Driven Quick spray concentrate, Showroom Glaze or my own machine applyable QD, after 106, 85RD or Ultra gloss superpolish.

Sometimes I'll work the spray in for 30 mins on a panel at 800 rpm. The wetness and colour enhancement is insane after that time.

Re: Finest of Fine Pads

Lake Country Red Pad is by far the softest.

If your cars paint is soft then thats the pad to finnish with.

Perfect for applying fine polish and sealants with no chance of holograms.

Easier and better finnish than a PC as well.

Re: Finest of Fine Pads

i've tried the blue LC pads after using the softest Meg's pad (tan). It's SOOOO much better for sealants.

I don't understand the purpose of working a QD into the paint for 30 minutes by rotary. Most QD's are water and silicone oils. I'd think that would affect the bonding of any good sealant(carnaubas would be ok tho). Why not use a dedicated acrylic glaze?

Rotary or PC?

The blue LC pad was softer?

I find this a nice smooth feeling combo also.

Re: Finest of Fine Pads

Tony, I was amazed the first time I tried 3M Ultrafina and their blue pads, it was on a black Nissan that started off with 3M Extra Cut 3000 and wool. It finished up with no halograms - checked under shop lights and in the sun, and this was by me on my first attempt, truely remarkable if you knew me!

Well this stuff and Aussie's are not really QD's, they are silicone free body shop safe concentrated spray polish that you dilute with water. They have a high amount of sealant in them so by just by spray and wipe or orbital/rotary application, the treated surfaces are sealed.
You can spray or buff it on and it's like finely polishing your car but without all the elbow grease. Works on any surface except leather and fabric.

The purpose is to make the paint look way wetter and have a richer colour than what is possible by polishing alone.
Makes the surface super slick.

You guys should know by now that I think outside the square of detailing
I'm radical.
Whatever it takes to make the car better and better every year and without taking any clearcoat off.

Re: Finest of Fine Pads

Soft Edge blue pad is a great compromise between a polishing and finishing pad. I have a black LC finishing pad that is super soft.

How does that bljue Edge pad compare to the Cyclo white finishing pads?

I always found the white Cyclo pads sorta aggressive (in a good way) for a "finishing" pad and have had good luck using them for the final polishing.
