Thanks to all of you who have given your time and expertise to give beginning hobbiest detailers the confidence to dive in to the deep end and swim! You taught me how to make a good choice of a RO polisher, a rotary buffer, polishes, waxes, pads, microfibers, a boar's hair brush, auto shampoo, auto vacuum, quick detailer sprays, and an assortment of brushes. The more I read your postings, the more motivated I became to get started making my Carrera sparkle, and to have faith that I wouldn't damage "her."

Today I broke in my new detailing clay and Speed Shine, PC, Optimum Polish, Score Pads, and Souveren liquid wax. I didn't start in on the 'ol Benz diesel, but instead went into the "deep end" with the Carrera, my dream car. I didn't finish it today, but I got 2/3's of it polished, and the hood polished and waxed, and will finish it up tomorrow. I am at a loss for words trying to thank so many of you whose postings I have tried to memorize. I didn't hurt my car! I have made it beautiful, and it's all because of the knowledge you professionals and experienced hobbiests have shared within your postings here and in other fine detailing forums.

I'd also like to thank Mike Phillips and Kevin Farrell for making such outstanding teaching DVD's on buffing and polishing. There's also one poster in particular I'd like to thank and that's Accumulator, for the great answers he gave me in response to a couple of questions I asked him.

If there's anyone who is reluctant to get started for a lack of confidence in your ability to do a professional job, I say, read postings here until you do have the confidence. Invest in the Richard Lin video with Mike Phillips, "How to use the PC for Showcar Results," And Kevin Farrell's "Buffing with Confidence." And after watching them several times, jump in, the water's fine!

The DW 849 came via UPS today and after finishing the Carrera tomorrow, our single stage, oxidized paint on the 'ol Benz diesel awaits it's "maiden voyage." I will buff at 1,000 RPM's as you all have advised, and I promised my wife it will glisten and gleam and we'll recoup all my recent "investments" (as I told her they were) with newfound pride in ownership in the old girl.

Once again, thanks to each and every poster member of this fabulous forum! I will forever be in your debt...

We only have a 1974 35 MM SLR Olympus OM-1 and no scanner for the computer, but you have my word, it looks like a perfect, sweet, Arctic Silver, 2001 C2 Carrera should...it has only 34,400 miles. Our daughter has a digital camera...maybe she can take a few this Sunday, and she'd know how to post them, definitely NOT ME! We'll see...thanks for your interest in seeing how it turns out!

Demongers- Glad to hear things are going so well. Remember to avoid the "just a little more..." temptation when using that rotary
