using a rotary, what combo suits your needs the best...

    i have some 6.5" pads, 6.75" pads, and some 5.5" pads....i have a 5" backing plate, and a 6.25" backing plate...

i ran into a situation where I was using a 5" plate with a 6.75" pad and I was able to use the edge of the pad more because it caved in around the backing plate so that I was able to get into the grooves better....

but my question is this....what pad size range is recommended with what backing plate range...like use a 5" plate with__________size pads, and a 6" plate with________size pads, and a 7" plate with________size pads

    thanks

I only use the flexible backing plates, like these. http://www.properautocare.com/flbaplforcip.html

I use the 6 1/8 BP the most with 7.5" LC pads. You can use that BP with the 6.5" pads as well. I also have the 7" BP for use with the 8.5" LC pads for bigger jobs.
