My next *brake project* was to when I needed new rotors. At that point, I was going to get the new rotors nickel plated.

I'm nowhere near needing new rotors now but with a set of HRE's on the car, I may just need to. The wheels tends to collect a pool of water on the backside of the wheel. My rotor hats are starting to chip/flake/rust and it's definately starting to show on the wheels. I wash the wheels 2X a week and always give the car a spin around the block before towel drying the wheels to get rid of the excess water that pools on the bottom of the wheels.

However, I just came back from my weekly washing routine and noticed that the *rust water* has started to stain 3 to 4 spots on the wheels (spokes, face and even the lip).

What have you guys done to deal with the rusty rotor hats ?

If you mean along the rim of the rotor, has lots of grooves, easily seen with wide wheels, then I tried applying some shellac-like Weatherpruf by Kano Labs. I would also just have some top notch high temp paint on hand and small paint brushes.

Remove the wheels and (depending on the tools your have) wire wheel, bristle wheel, etc, the rotor areas that the pads DO NOT touch. Then, you can eithe rbrush or spray some caliper paint on.
