RO to Rotary adapter (Makita BO6040 to Makita 9227CB)

Hi Guys,
Further to my posts in the thread below

I decided to start a new thread rather than hijacking the previous thread.
The attached PDF outlines the steps I took to make my own adapter to use the Edge2000 pad system with my Makita BO6040 RO buffer.
For those Aussie forum members that don't have US accesories / backing plates. Use an M14 grub screw/bolt instead of the 5/8" one I used.
Btw the washers and grub screw/bolt can easily be sourced from andwashers and fasteners store like Lee Bros other Coventry Fasteners. You may be able to even get them from the Bunnings, but I didn't go there..

no it's just a simple adapter that attaches to the RO so that I can use the edge2000 pad system.
Currently a similar thing exists for the PC, but we can't get a PC down under, so made one for my Makita BO6040

well.. on the cheaper RO like an ozito or basically anything that doesn't have forced rotation, I would imagine the tool would struggle quite a bit with such large pads.. but the tool you see in the pics is a Makita BO6040, one of two RO that I know which has forced rotation. The other one would be a Festool Rotex 150E. With either of these RO, there is no probs whatso ever running 8" pads. I actually use a combination of 6" and 8" pads, depending on where I'm polishing. The Festool is a nice toy but it's about 50% more. I couldn't really justify it since I've already got the Makita 9227

Seriously.. I really like the Edge 2000 system, it makes changing pads a breeze. I find that if the pads are centered correctly, it makes the tool much much more managable.
Like I said earlier, I"m not sure how the larger tools will work with a RO that does not have forced rotation. But on the Makita, it works like a dream. At any rate, even on the RO that do not have forced rotation, at least you will have a larger selection of backing plates available to you.
