Makita rotary and Lake country pads.. Problem :/

hi guys. about two weeks ago i got some lake country pads, maguires 105 and 205 to polish out my bmw. long story short, i'm in arizona, it was hotter than hell even in the shade in my garage. the 105 that i started to apply with an orange pad would quickly absorb and not spread about the surface of the car. also, it was a bit hard to control the makita (9227). so i just left it unbuffed and put some wax on it. the car looked good with just the wax on, but it had some holograms on the part of the hood where i tried polishing it.
so this morning i tried removing holograms by hand with a bonnet and mag's 205. thought i got them out but when i put the car out on the sun there were more holograms than before. i'm a bit frustrated that i just can't get it down right. if anyone has any suggestions i would greatly appreciate your help. thank you!

Do you only have a makita? In my experience, BMW paint is easily affected by polishes and so forth. I did newer model two days ago and green pads with the Griots was fine, minus some etching that was deeeeep into the clear and could only be seen at very close angles. A makita would have been way too strong for this process IMO. When you stated..."hard to control", it means that the pad was most likely not flat while you were polishing and that can cause problems. I used to be a "white knuckler", but with today's products, pads, and DA's, I do not use the makita almost ever and can remove just about every imperfection. I still practice all the time (spent 2 hrs. today with MF system, Griots, Flex, UNO, 105, 205) to improve.

What I HATE is when I use my swirl light and go very slowly and it's all good. Drive to a store, walk around on purpose to the sun lit side, and see a few long semi-circular scratches- probably a stupid towel mistake on a final wipe as they are too long to come from the 5.5" pads. All the way home I debate taking out the polisher, or eating dinner. LOL

I know it might be a pain in the rear but get a spraybottle and spray the panel down and wipe it before you run the polisher over it. also you can spritz a little on the pad to keep it from dusting i would also try a less agressive pad like lake country white or meguiars yellow. you can always step up if its not cutting. also what color is the bmw also what factors are what speed you were going. also sometimes if you havnt clayed the paint it can be grabby sometimes.

i kept the pad as flat to the surface as i could :/

my bmw is black. it sucks, it shows every little detail. i also sprayed some detailer on the pad and on the surface. didn't seem to help.

i clayed my car before i did it. i made sure it was very smooth, like glass. i do have a white foam pad.

is there anyway to do it by hand maybe? or is machine the only way to go?

You just need to get the car indoors and cool. It's nearly impossible to polish outside.
