Ah, I was wondering if anybody else cared about those
I get a hard-to-verbalize special pleasure out of reading old firsts of certain works.

Yeap! It is also a great investment. All the books I have are worth a whole lot more now than when I bought them.

Re: What Do You Collect?
Don't really collect much of anything because I use most of the stuff I buy.
Stuff sitting on my desk right now are flashlights (various Surefire's, Tigerlight's, and modified Maglites.)
Glancing at the corner wall, I seem to have collected about 35-40 college text books and countless reams of notes that are about 4 1/2 feet high.

Re: What Do You Collect?
I'm suprised no one has said movies. I'm a movie freak and currently have over 200+DVD's and working on converting everything to Blu-Ray. Also video games. I only trade them in when I have to. I had an original mint copy of Lunar Silver Star Story and Lunar 2 collectors editions, but had to sell them when I moved here to Reno for some quick cash. They go for up to 200 bucks on eBay.

Re: What Do You Collect?
I collect Star Wars toys actually. It's one of my earliest childhood memories (from the 80's). I have a bunch of the originals, and if I get anything new, it's only tasteful stuff, and my favorite characters, none of these "Hey let's make a toy of a dude that was in the newest movies for 30 seconds!" Or any of the characters added into the original Trilogy. I'm a bit of a purist there.
I also collect the McFarlane Halo Figures, drum sticks, and guitar picks, and other concert memorabilia. It's kinda easy for the concert stuff since that's my chosen profession. I have so much stuff now, laminates, tour books (itenararies), set lists, etc that it's getting to be a bit of a hassle.
I also collect drum tools, comes in handy since I'm a drum tech. But I've got some of the coolest toys to make my job so easy that it's crazy. Most of them travel with me in my workbox, it weighs 500 kilo's when I ship it.
